What is the strongest knowledge in Vikings War of Clans?
The answer to this depends on how you define the strongest. For me the strongest knowledge is the one that gives you the most troop power per percent. In order to answer this question we must first decide what the different types of percents there are in the game.
There are 3 subsets
Subset 1: Regular bonuses.
1) Offense %
2) Defense %
3) Health %
Subset 2: Reducers
4) Offense Reducer %
5) Defense Reducer %
6) Health Reducer %
Subset 3: Offense Against
7) Offense Against %
Now I know that each tier and each troop type has their own separate percents. But they all go into the same pool.
Troop Offense + Melee Offense + Tier 7 Melee Offense = Total Tier 7 Melee Offense
The different kind of knowledge also go in the same pool if they are the same type. Oracle knowledge, Citadel knowledge, VIP bonus, Gear bonus, Hero bonus, Shaman bonus, Rune bonus. If it says total offense, troop type(melee, ranged, killer, cav, siege or spy) offense, offense on offense, offense on defense. They all go into the same bucket.
Tier 1 troops have 100 offense. If all your percents add up to say 2500%. Then an additional 2500 is added to the total amount. Which makes your total offense 2600.
So what is the strongest knowledge? Pound for pound the best value for each % is undoubtedly Offense Against.
This used to be my big secret. I would fight against people with much higher influence and win. They would come out of the battle thinking I was some sort of magician.
I’m no magician. I simply understand the numbers.
So why is offense against the best knowledge in the game? At least in terms of troops strength per %. The answer is actually rather simple.
Vikings uses a fairly simple formula to calculate the total troop strength.
So here’s a simple example if (Tier 1 base stats troop without any bonuses.)
Offense = 100
Defense = 100
Health = 100
When the game first started there were only 3 types of knowledge. Offense/Defense/Health. After some time Plarium added “Reducers” and for the longest those were the most valuable percents. People updating their accounts always focused primarily on reducers.
Why were reducers the most powerful back then and not now? Because of scarcity. The more you have of something. The less effect an additional % is going to have. Let’s take a look at the maximum available % for each category.
Offense % = 2282
Defense % = 2299
Health % = 2144
(The 3 above are approximates based on a 1 trillion influence account tier 7 stats.)
Offense Reducer % = 260
Defense Reducer % = 260
Health Reducer % = 230
Offense Against % = 95
(75 from knowledge, 20 from shaman. Also the offense against Tier 1 2 and 3 is larger but for the sake of simplicity we will not include those.)
Notice how Offense Against is the smallest number. If you add 1 to 1000 you only made a .1% difference. If you add 1 to 100 you just made a 1% difference. You added the same amount but the change is bigger when the original number is smaller.
Notice how adding 1 to the smaller number had a bigger impact versus adding 1 to the bigger number. A fairly substantial one in this particular case.
The most important thing here is that “Offense Against” is a totally different section BECAUSE of the way it is applied in battle. If you have 2500 offense and you add just 1% of Offense Against. It doesn’t make your offense 2501 as it would if it was just another offense bonus. It would actually add 25 because 1% of 2500 is 25. In that context 1% of Offense against is worth the same as 25% of normal offense. Obviously the case is different for every village. But I think you get the idea.
Here’s some battle proof. (Plarium gives a big hint in their battle reports about the strength of Offense Against knowledge)
11435 attack but AFTER offense against Melee which is 97% it is a whopping 22528.
I know this is a rather complicated topic and I don’t expect everyone to understand it right away. I will be covering more basic battle mechanics that will make posts like this easier to understand. I wanted to start off with something very useful right away in order to get the site going.
Welcome and I hope you enjoy the content. More importantly I hope it makes you a more dangerous viking player
